Saturday, July 20-7:00 pm-1:00 am

Reunion Buffet at the Marsh; 15000 Minnetonka Blvd.; Minnetonka MN

(One-half mile west of Hwy 494 on Minnetonka Blvd.);  (952) 935-2000;  $35.00 per person

Please join us at the Marsh for the ultimate grazing experience. The Marsh is a unique conference center which overlooks a federally protected wetland. It is known for its serenely exquisite architecture, tasteful decor, and delicious food. The owner and designer of the facility is Ruth Stricker Dayton. It is a special place for special people -- in this case --US!

In lieu of a restrictive sit-down dinner we've planned a casual buffet featuring some elegant appetizers. We want everyone to have the chance to fraternize, to have quality time together, so there will be plenty of places to sit down to nosh and to schmooze, but no assigned seats with place cards, long lines at a single serving table, or intrusive waiters. You can wander out to the decks, walk the trails, visit in the lounge/reception areas, or enjoy the displays. A short program is planned for the evening. There will also be a cash bar serving wines, beers, sodas, and waters. Our Master of Ceremonies for the evening will be our own "Fearless Leader" Jack Swenson coming all the way from Ontario, Canada.

Quote from Jacks Email of 6/13/02 :

"Your e-mail together with the pix of our class is brilliant.  Thanks for
sending it along, altho I still have my '57 Wahian at the ready to try to
rehab my memory for our classmates' names and faces.

As you know, I WILL be there, together with my Massachusetts-born wife and
perhaps my Canadian-born daughter who is a doctor.

I'm looking forward to seeing you (and all the others) on July 19 and 20.

Best regards,  Jack"

Places to Stay

The Hilton Garden Inn will be the Reunion Hotel, they have on hold a block of 10 rooms for us. If these are gone they should have more rooms at the regular rates. Please contact them direct (952) 995-9000 for your reservation.  A limited number of rooms have been made available to us at the Hilton Garden Inn and the Marsh has limited overnight guest facilities that are comparably priced. A Southwest Marriott and several other good hotels are located nearby. (Call a committee member if you need help.)

It has been pointed out that class members have all reached the "Golden Age" of Senior Discounts and AARP membership discounts (which usually beat government rates at most hotels). So.. don't forget to mention you would like discount privileges when making your travel, rental car, or accommodation reservations. You will undoubtedly get a better deal than we could ever arrange for you.

Things to Do     [URL http://www.whs57.com/things.htm ]

There are lots of interesting things to do when visiting the Twin Cities. Stroll down Memory Lane and visit Minnehaha Falls, Lake Harriet (ride on the Calhoun-Harriet Streetcar Line), Lake Nokomis, the Rose Gardens, Como Park Zoo or any of the other places that were around when we were all at Washburn. Maybe you'd rather see what's new or what's changed. There's the Mall of America, the Xcel Center, the new Science Museum, the new History Center, Mystic Lake Casino at Prior Lake or Treasure Island Casino at Red Wing. The Cities have something for everyone!
